Behind The Firm List Blog
World Geography for $1000 Alex
One of the things running The Firm List has done for me is give me a chance to further my understanding of world geography.
People are always pointing out things I might have overlooked. Some do it nicely, some not so.
I've always been interested in geography, and I think I've always been pretty knowledgeable. I used to be fascinated by
Australia as a kid and would check an unending stream of books out of the library about it.
I admit I don't/can't know everything.
I admit that perhaps there are some drawbacks to basing my site on a strict geographical arrangement.
I admit that I don't always bend over backwards to accomodate the customer.
But I will not admit to being close-minded or vindictive. I don't do something and mandate that's how it's done. I do my
research, make my best interpretation and then welcome feedback. I do take feedback seriously. I have made many changes as
I am presented with information I was not aware of.
I've also said no. I've welcomed their view and said that there wasn't any grounds for me to change my policies or approach.
I have to take a lot of factors into consideration with this site. But the core thing is that I do this in my sparetime, out
of my own pocket. Ultimately, I do this at-will. Push too hard or expect too much, then you just might erase all that will,
and I'll give up on this site.
I'm not threatening to shut down the site. Just providing a response to those occasional bad apples.
Had one person recently not agree with how I organized the listings, gave me an initial plea, then when I responded, he responded
with language that not only was an attack on what I've done here, but in language that was full of hatred for others. Bigotted
too. Fine. It just goes in one ear and out the other. They got fed up (didn't even have to reply) and they asked to be removed.
Simple enough. Done. Adios.
Come on people, get some perspective. Take life a little less seriously. Be nice. You might just have people be nice to
you in return.
