Behind The Firm List Blog
A Matter of Perceptions
Recently, I received an email that included the following: "I though your site was defunct? Are you starting it up again?" It took me by surprise at first, but after I thought about it for a little while, it makes sense. It still is a little bit of a sting, but...

Yes, The Firm List has been actively run for 6 years now. Oddly, it has probably seen me working on it for about 300 out of 365 days in every given year, but it's certainly not a "daily" venture in the sense that something will change or be done every day.

But what do people notice being done anyways? I guess the first thing to analyze when someone visits The Firm List is whether the site is still up and whether there's broken links or images. Bar that, how can one know? I have dealt with web design firms that have been listed on this site that were defunct, but their website remained, live, in limbo.

There is a wealth of information on this site that details what's going on at any given time, like this journal. But I imagine that it's not something anyone looks at on a regular basis. There is the "what's new" section which is sort of an abbreviated version of this, detailing little and large milestones. Accompanying that is the update list which indicates which firms have been added on any given day. All of these have archives so you can drill back to your heart's content and find out what's being done, why I am doing it, etc.

And yes, it still takes up to 8 months to have your firm added as a free, Basic Member. But give me a break. It's free. Thus, I have to make money elsewhere. That takes time. Enough said.
