Behind The Firm List Blog
Back in Sac
Well, today is my first day back in Sacramento. I mean, I've been hear on weekends and such, but for the last 2+ months, during the week, I've been living/working in San Francisco. Staying at my dad's. Working as a Web Producer and in the studio for one of the internal agencies at Charles Schwab.

The hours sort of petered out and I just didn't want to do it anymore. Tired. Was ready to make a decision to move down fulltime or come back here fulltime. They made it easy by not giving me any sense I'd have the hours to justify the move.

Isn't it weird the way our careers take us. For some, it's the same job for years/decades on end. For others, it's a continual, revolving circle of jobs, contracts, and times with no work. Or at least that's been my track record.

I know I have high standards/demands of what my work environment should be and what I'd like to do. But I think they are only "high" in terms of the general sub par nature of the business world. I don't think I'm really asking for much in the scheme of things, just more than most businesses are willing to provide.

So anyways, for a little while, I'm gonna try and focus on my own personal projects, see if I can't catch up a little bit, see if they can't make a little more money, etc. But alas, I'll be out there looking again. But I think I'm looking to stay around here (whether fulltime or contract) unless the right position comes along. But I'm not holding my breath. Never do.
