Behind The Firm List Blog
What is "Spare Time" Anyways?
So today was my last day at my most recent day job. It wasn't a job I ever expected to get much out of, I knew
that going into it. I needed a steady paycheck after 18+ months of unemployment and turmoil in my life. Well,
it was a steady paycheck.
You'd like to think that even when you're in a job that's not exciting or fulfilling, that you're at least
learning something. And I guess perhaps I did, but it wasn't related to web design skills or a portfolio of
web work. No, I learned more about my tolerances for different environment, different peoples, different
realities...
I'm lucky that I have a contract work that came my way, that The Firm List has been bringing in about two weeks
worth of my old job's paycheck, and that I'm used to not having much. I mean, this just ended job was a
50% pay cut from my previous job, so...
Anyways, I guess that means I'll have more time to put towards The Firm List. I have a lot of catching up to do,
as well as a lot of pro-active jobs I need to tackle. We'll see how much I actually get done. The freelance
lifestyle as well as job hunting has a way of taking up more of your time than you planned. Trust me, I know.
Oh, and if you know of a position that's looking for someone with a wide range of skills, nearly 10 years
web experience, and a passion that just doesn't exist in everyone doing this, then let me know. I'm not the
right guy for most positions, so I'll warn you up front... no need to send me AnyJob.
