Behind The Firm List Blog
Making My Life Standards Compliant
It's always a balancing act, isn't it? There's so many things we'd like to do in a day, and only so much time.
I'm trying to cut back in places to refocus on others. I'm up from 7:45am to sometimes 2am and yet, there doesn't
seem to be time enough in a day.
8 hours are removed each day to pay the bills, and that's often the hardest part of all. When you think of the people
in the world who run for a living, play games for a living, pretend they are other people for a living, sing for a
living, pose naked for a living... and then we look at our own lives and what do WE do for a living?
I'm not gonna go into the personal aspects of this all right here, as I am just not prepared to do that. But if you
purely focus on this site in the the scheme of it all, I try and do a lot of balancing just to make this site go on.
About 8 months or so ago now, I had to make the realization that I couldn't keep up with adding all firms within any
sort of "short" time frame. There was just no way I could fit it into my schedule and I also stepped back and
realized that in the bigger picture, there was no reason for me to try. It's a big game of "you get what you pay for," right?
You can't expect the Rolls if you're only gonna pony up for a Geo.
So as a matter of settling that karmic disturbance in my life, I came to grips with the realization that it's
perfectly okay for me to take as long as necessary to get to those Basic Member submissions if it meant the difference
between running my life or running this site.
I haven't gotten so far with a lot of the other aspects of this site (and my other web projects). There are
still comprimises to be met, deals to be struck to allow me to keep a balance in my life. To reach some standards
compliant place in the universe.
