		Behind The Firm List Blog Year in Review (Numbers & Traffic) It's been a while since I did an update numbers & traffic review of The Firm List. I am curious to see where I am at. But I do this with the knowledge that I probably have 150 submissions in my queue and that I have many out of business firms to trim in this new year. So it's all with a grain of salt that I put this together. Here's the most recent figures for number of firm listings: - australia.firmlist.com (Australia) has 322 firm listings - canada.firmlist.com (Canada) has 1253 firm listings - uk.firmlist.com (UK) has 844 firm listings - us.firmlist.com (USA) has 6,819 firm listings - www.firmlist.com (Remaining Countries) has 1,997 firm listings - total firm listings = 11,235 - total number of countries = 152 I'm always getting people interested in what the traffic stats are for this site. I'm always a little hesitant as I think people look at numbers without any context. The first piece of context is that I've done very little advertising of any kind for this site, so it's all word of mouth, so I am continually amazed at any traffic I get. Next, I'm even surprised at the numbers some times. They tell me something though. I watch the number of "hits" for the particular subsites drop as I shift all of the images to it's down subsite. That makes the total number of hits for the subsite to drop to nearly the same as the number of page views, which is the number most people should look at. I still have the hits, as the image subsite had 1.5 million hits in December 2002 which almost equals total hits across the network of sites back in May 2001. There's also shifts in use and support of sections of the site. The decision to remove almost all of the profiles on the site back in August, making them available to Full Member firms only, saw a dramatic dip in the use of that subsite. That has been compensated by the general growth of the rest of the site as well as additions like the Friends of The Firm List section. So enjoy, with a grain of salt. Here are the traffic figures for December 2002: The Firm List Network (19 subsites): - 1,682,231 hits - 162,548 page views - approx. 5,239 page views per day The Firm List: - 56,204 hits - 53,536 page views - approx. 1,727 page views per day - 12,367 distinct hosts served. The Firm List Australia: - 3,975 hits - 3,975 page views - approx. 128 page views per day - 914 distinct hosts served. The Firm List Canada: - 9,711 hits - 9,711 page views - approx. 313 page views per day - 2,270 distinct hosts served. The Firm List UK: - 5,350 hits - 5,350 page views - approx. 172 page views per day - 1,266 distinct hosts served.
