As I go through the process of notifying thousands of firms about the changes to The Firm List
I am trying to refine & clarify the message so that it doesn't confuse people. You can read my first explanation
here.
I first want to restate, that all firms (that are still in business) will continue to be listed on The Firm List. There will
still be 10,000+ firms listed in over 142 countries. The site will not become any less value as a resource for finding web
design firms around the world.
What will change is that as of August 15, 2002 all firms who have not upgraded to Full Member status will loose their existing
profiles. These have always been an additional feature for firms to express more information about their firm and set themselves
apart from others. Profiles are a step-up from listings, and provide firms with additional exposure and traffic. If a firm does
not feel that this profile has benefitted their firm, they can remain a Basic Member and will continue to be listed and receive
traffic. If they feel that their profile & listing have been of value to their firm, then upgrading to Full Member status should
be consider a small "thank you" for all the help that The Firm List has provided.
I've received inquiries on traffic levels for the site. The last published survey of traffic across the network of Firm List
sites can be seen here.
