Behind The Firm List Blog
Setting Records
No, I didn't set the record for the most watermelons sat on in a 24-hour period, or eggs baked into souffles. I set a personal record
for the most firms I've added to The Firm List in a 1-month period.
I added 534 firms last month. 534! Can you imagine? That's about 5% of the total firms that are/were on this site. All in one month.
Whew! I'm tired.
Don't know if I will get around to adding that many firms again in a single month. A lot of work. A "long" night for me normally is adding
about 30-40 firms. That doesn't happen every day. Just don't have the time.
Adding 30-40 firms takes probably 3-4 hours, all told. You see, I review each submission made. This helps me to sort out all of the submissions
made by firms which don't offer web design/development services or should be included in the resources section instead (recruiters, new media
groups, associations, etc.)
Then there's all the firms which make errors in their submissions (mispellings, putting the wrong info in the wrong fields, omitting essential
data, etc.). Then I have to click through their site a bit to make sure that they offer web design/development services, make sure that if they
offer adult web design services that their listing reflects that (in case of minors on the site), and to verify that they are located in the
city/town they claim on the submission.
I don't just take every submission as complete, accurate, etc. This site wouldn't be what it is if I did. I do excersize some level of
discretion and editorial control, but I don't leave firms out simply because I don't think they do a good job. That would make it impossible
for me to maintain this site... too much work to do.
The firm submissions are rolling in as I speak, so I better get back to it.
