Behind The Firm List Blog
Optimism Restored
Seems apt to write a piece entitled "Optimism Restored" on a night where the Red Sox beat
the Seattle Mariners. Those have been rare lately.
It's also been rare for me to feel good about my decision to start charging the listing fee, but there's been some
highlights recently.
For starters, while I am currently behind in adding firms, I am not as far behind as I would normally be at this point.
There has been a dramatic decrease in the number of US firms submitting themselves, but that is welcome. It will come
in handy when I am on vacation and can't update the site.
But more importantly, my spirits are buoyed by the number of firms who find the site worth $50 to list themselves on.
I have to believe that it's one of the cheaper forms of advertising out there. It's cheaper than being listed on Yahoo.
Lasts longer than $50 worth of paid placement will get you on Google. It's not even a significant fraction of the cost
of running banner ads on any site that I know of.
While I am not a millionaire nor can I quit my day job just yet, it is a validation of my efforts & creation as well
as a nice little sum to help cover costs.
I have some interesting ideas in store, some of which will eat up more bandwidth thus greater hosting costs, so this
income will help offset that.
