Behind The Firm List Blog
Listing Fee
I've been working on this site for more than 3 years now. I've been doing it all in my spare time and
relying upon my day job to pay my bills including those for maintaining this site. While that might have been okay at the time, as the
site grows in popularity, it's become necessary for me to start charging firms to be listed on the site.
Starting this weekend, I will require that any web design/development firm in the United States to pay a $50 US listing fee in order to
be added to the site. At the moment, firms from any other country will still be listed for free. This distinction has to do with currency
difficulties as well as a desire to continue to grow the international listings on this site.
I believe that $50 is not a lot of money, especially not put into the context of the traffic and attention that this site provides firms.
If a firm listed here gets even one piece of work or one new employee through this site, that $50 will be a drop in the bucket.
I fully expect that there will be a drop in the number of US firms being added to the site. While I don't want to prevent anyone from
participating, the drop in numbers will also make it easier for me to maintain the site. With nearly 8,000 firm listings to date, this site
is quite valuable a resource as it is.
I am still evaluating my plans for transitioning existing listings. Any new offerings for firms will be offered first (and perhaps limited
to) firms which have paid their listing fee. Firms already listed will be able to pay the listing fee (perhaps reduced) and take advantage
of these offerings.
I welcome your feedback and I will make all efforts to accomodate everyone, so if you feel that the $50 listing fee would be a hardship,
please email me and present your case. I make no promises, but will definitely try to help you out.
