Behind The Firm List Blog
Is Your Domain For Sale?
I received another piece of random email today. I believe it's spam, but I am not 100% sure. It
has all the signs of being generated by technology rather than a person actually evaluating the situation.
No, it wasn't an email for feminine products or for car seats for a porsche, neither things I obviously have any use for. Rather,
this was an email asking if firmlist.com was for sale. Not the website, but the URL.
Made me laugh for a moment at how silly it was, but then I was just appalled at the lack of creativity involved as well. So I decided
to create my own, more creative version of the email. And then I will post the actual email. Feel free to let me know which would be
a better motivator for you.

To you, the one smart enough to grab [insert domain here].com, I want to talk to you about
a possible deal between us. You may not know me, but I am a well-respected email
marketer and domain reseller. Some of the domains I have sold include:
I have several interested buyers lined up waiting for [insert domain here].com to become available.
They email me every morning wanting to know how much it will cost them, assuring me that price
is not a problem.
So far, I have held them off, saying that you've created a lot of value in [insert domain here] and
it would be a shame to just give it up and start over. I have suggested they purchase other high
value URLs such as [insert domain here].ws, [insert domain here].tv and [insert domain here].md. They
have snapped these up already and are waiting for [insert domain here].com
While I can't tell you how much they would be willing to pay, I want to make it worth your while. In
addition to a tidy lump sum, they would like to offer you one of the following URLs to move your site
to:
Please get back to me at 888-555-5555 ext 55 at your earliest convenience so we can work out the terms.
They are patient for now, but they will move on to another URL if you don't take this opportunity soon.
Sincerely,
Smart Spammer
