Time-Keeping
I've always wondered how many hours I've put into this site. A few times, people have asked me to put a value on the site, and one of the only things I could think to base it on was how much time I had put into it.

Well, my rough estimates put it at a minimum of 15 hours a week. It's no doubt much more than that. I've already worked 3+ hours today.

So I thought I might try and keep a timesheet of sorts, to have a record of how many hours I've worked on it. But little did I realize how hard it would be to keep, even for one day.

Unlike contract work or my day job, it's hard to keep track of the hours I work on The Firm List because I intermingle other personal stuff while doing it. Like on Sunday, I would watch an inning or two of the Red Sox vs. Yankees, then I'd be back working on the site.

It's really hard to keep track of my time spent when the time I spent is interwoven into the fabric of my day. In the mornings I check my logs, check my email, handle any problems from while I was sleeping. During the day, while I am at my day job, should a problem arise that's urgent enough, I take the time to fix it, then right back to work.

The evenings and weekends are when I do most of the work, but it's also the time I cook, clean, and spend time with my wife.

So, perhaps I'll never have an accurate counting of the hours I spend on this site. Sometimes I'm prone to saying it's too much, other times it's not enough. I'll leave it to you. You be the judge.
